Walking In North Yorkshire

For walkers, Ox Pasture Hall Country House Hotel is the perfect base to explore North Yorkshire and cannot be beaten, to relax and unwind after a long day walking.

The hotel is stunningly located in 17 acres of its own gardens and grounds, in the magnificent North Yorkshire Moors National Park, close to the Forge Valley Woods National Nature Reserve – itself a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Forge Valley has some unbelievably beautiful scenery and is ideal for walkers. The valley is one of the finest examples of mixed deciduous woodland in north-east England and was formed by rushing glacial meltwater following the last ice age. The name, however, comes from the iron smelting which took place in the area.

The North Yorkshire Moors has over 1,400 miles of paths and tracks to choose from, in this wonderful corner of Yorkshire which is overflowing with opportunities for walkers.

There is no better way to take the weight of the world off your shoulders than to take a walk along the Cleveland Way National Trail. The 110 mile walking route follows the fantastic scenery of the North Yorkshire Moors, crossing stunning lengths of heather moorland and providing spectacular views of the Yorkshire coastline.
Coast to Coast Walk
The Coast to Coast Walk is a 182-mile unofficial and mostly unsignposted long distance footpath in Northern England. Devised by Alfred Wainwright, it passes through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park.
